- Plan and prepare for raise boring
- Access, interpret and apply raise boring documentation and ensure the work activity is compliant
- Obtain, read, interpret, clarify and confirm work requirements
- Identify and address potential risks, hazards and environmental issues and implement control measures
- Select and wear personal protective equipment appropriate for work activities
- Inspect and assess site conditions to identify and manage possible scaling requirements and misfires
- Communicate and coordinate activities with others throughout the work activity
- Obtain and interpret emergency procedures, and be prepared for fire/accident/emergency
- Locate collar and drill pilot hole
- Carry out pre-start and start up procedures
- Identify, select and apply rig operational controls
- Inspect and assemble collaring starter equipment
- Install dust suppression and extraction systems
- Confirm and set drill direction accurately and collar hole as specified in the drill plan
- Install assemblies in collared hole to allow pilot hole drilling
- Drill and monitor progress of pilot hole
- Continually monitor hazards and risks , and ensure safety of self, other personnel, plant and equipment
- Interpret drill plans and drill holes to design
- Operate equipment safely within working environment limitations and ground conditions
- Monitor ground conditions and adjust drilling techniques and components to maintain efficient drilling operations
- Monitor drilling progress using appropriate equipment indicators
- Carry out and monitor drill "break-through" procedures and inspect break through
- Remove housing assemblies
- Ream raise bore
- Coordinate personnel to attach the reaming head to drill string
- Coordinate removal of raise bore cuttings
- Monitor ground conditions and adjust reaming techniques to maintain efficient drilling operations
- Diagnose and take appropriate action to manage reaming problems and advise appropriate personnel
- Remove and store reamer
- Respond to problems
- Identify possible operational problems in equipment, process or mud
- Determine problems needing action
- Determine possible fault causes
- Rectify problem using appropriate solution(s) within area of responsibility
- Follow through items initiated until final resolution has occurred
- Report problems outside area of responsibility to designated person
- Complete equipment maintenance and housekeeping
- Carry out shutdown and secure equipment
- Monitor wear and recognise symptoms of malfunction
- Check all equipment and hoses
- Monitor all seals and connections
- Replace, adjust and report items needing attention.
- Service gear and adjust glands where required
- Complete maintenance schedule
- Check oil drops for signs of repairs needed
- Maintain inspection and/or service records
- Ensure housekeeping activities are completed
